The Fifth Element Fashion Show + Fifth Element Notes

The basic idea behind our fashion show concept is the future of fashion if we continue on the current trends of overconsumption and overproduction that we are on now. It is no secret that the fashion industry is oversaturated with clothing. Fast fashion brands are a fairly new phenomena that churn out clothes cheaper and faster than ever before. Essentially, we are creating more that can be consumed. Aside from the ethical issues of sweatshops, there are major environmental issues with fast fashion. This results in an immense amount of this clothing being trashed in a very small amount of time, and with the inclusion of synthetic fibers in clothing, it takes an extremely long time to break down.

For my portion of the project, I represented our probably future if we continue down this path of overproduction. The key idea of my outfit was keeping with trends fashion while having to incorporate trash and reused materials into our fashion. I kept in line with Sam's green makeup, but made it more subtle and gentler.  My outfit is entirely thrifted or created by me. The dress I got at a garage sale years ago and I got the shoes at a thrift shop this last summer. The corset was the key piece of my outfit, created by me. I made it with hot glue, cardboard, and a shoe string! I chose to make a corset as they are currently a very trendy item in fashion, and I thought it would make a strong statement about trends and consumption.

    • The guardians gave the stones to someone else- she needs to find them 

      • This man is the serpent

      • The priest and him have a history omg

    • This man exudes girl boss slay energy and i love it

  • The sleep pods like those Japanese hotel

    • She protects him because she is the fifth element 

    • Living for this flight preparing for takeoff its so interesting 

      • Love the guys smoking and handling nuclear material

  • Oh my god this is the same thing that affected the soldier

    • It's like a living, breathing planet 

    • That's so cool

  • Hmm this feels like hawaii 

    • Oh he has mom struggles 

    • Mysterious alien folks 

      • These are who the fifth element was supposed to meet

      • Mmm the blue girl reminds me a lot of the star wars girl 

        • Also an ally i think to the fifth element

          • Also love the opera music for an epic fight scene

  • Uh oh its going bad really quickly

    • NOO they murdered the cool blue alien

      • See she knows what's up- she is a being not a person

        • THE FIFTH ELEMENT IS GONNA DIE 

      • Oooo the guardians entrusted the stones to the blue alien girl

  • This entire fight is honestly iconic ngl

The episode I chose to analyze from Love, Death, and Robots was the episode “Pop Squad” from Volume 2.      Pop Squad is set in a dystopian future where immortality is a real possibility, overpopulation has led to harsh restriction of resources, including offspring. A little bit about me! Name: Abigail Wilson (she/her) I am a sophomore, I'm from Toledo, Ohio, and I'm a Marine Science-Biology major with an environmental science minor.  I love the oceans and everything nature. The Duality between Decker and Nick Valentine (Creative Process for Collage)

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” While watching Blade Runner, we were struck by how similar the story was to a lot of the science fiction media we consume. Through research, we discovered that “Do androids dream of Electric Sheep?” by Philip K. Dick was likely the core source of inspiration for not only Blade Runner, but all the media we were reminded of.
